This is a beautiful painting. I’ve just returned from Sicily and I have many, many photographs of narrow passages and alleyways. You have inspired me to paint some of them!

In reply to Roy. Happy to hear the tips are helpful Roy! And as to colour, that's a whole other ball game lol! The first thing is to get those values down. Then, choose colours in each of those value pools. Look for colours that you feel. For instance, I remember the warmth of the stone even though that doesn't show up in this painting. I also remember it was a very hot day! So I choose colours that will reflect this. Hope that helps!!

Great tips but how do you decide which colours to use for a limited palette as your colours are nothing like the reference photo.
