Thank you very much, Jane. When I switched to sanded paper about twenty years ago I often felt I was heavy handed and gradually became aware that the lightest touch of pastel to paper could create an interesting mark. I often tell my students my stroke pressure can be the weight of the pastel with no additional pressure from my hand. This can put the stick in a precarious position of falling though!
